Costumers reviews

My son's aunt came through with this box set yesterday and his reaction was to fly over the moon, which speaks to the power of the franchise more than the value of this particular toy. Angry Birds already put out tabletop versions of the app and they improved upon them for this tie-in. All of the figures are made out of rubber, an improvement over the hard plastic piggies that were difficult to place. The angry bird stays put in the slingshot because they put a small hole in the bottom and a corresponding peg in the slingshot. The game play is also simplified somewhat with the addition of dice that can be used for a two-player version of the game. One die has the structure that needs to be built, and the other the number of shots you get. The figures themselves are awesome. The slingshot comes in the form of a rebel fighter.

Of course know that this is a crossover extravaganza. For my child, it will serve as introduction to the Star Wars world. He's four and has only had peripheral exposure to Star Wars through other kids' toys, but I watched him get his first true lesson from his aunt as they unpacked the game. Hasbro managed to get Jenga attached to this, which makes sense I guess. This box set in no way has a Jenga gameplay. However, it does make me think that it is a good idea to buy a Jenga set and build a bunch of Angry Bird structures with them. I don't think the smaller kids will care if the structures are made out of little blocks of wood as opposed to the plastic that these sets come with. All the little ones are concerned with are the figures, which also can be bought separately, on their own.

Which brings me to my only beef. The price is steep on these things. Twenty bucks or so for this box. There is another At-At set that runs about fifty. My kid already put it on grandma to get him the Tatooine box, and they are designed to build off one another to an extent, so do the math.

Lastly, my box came with a coupon that unlocks free app content, which of course means I have a new Angry Birds app to purchase. That happens November 8th.
